A crowd of over 200 players, friends and family gathered on Friday, July 19 at Harwich Fields to enjoy our inaugural All-Star Games. On a perfect summer day, a joyful atmosphere of corn dogs, crackerjacks and music accented the festivities. The event brought together players from across the generations demonstrating our league emphasis on community, competition and camaraderie.
Among the highlights of the day, a collection of 21 CCSSL Hall of Famers were recognized and honored in a ceremony before the Cassidy Division game.
The "Big Mike" McCluskey bench was dedicated prior to the Simpson Division first pitch.
The first pitch in the Winnett Division contest was delivered by Millie Hastings, Labrador Retriever and AKC certified "Comfort Dog". Great job Millie!
Additionally, we were proud to honor player Shawn Piche along with Yarmouth Fire Department Firefighters, Paramedic Derrick Irving, Paramedic David Caruso, EMT Shawn Bent and LT Jason Berry, the team that responded to and heroically saved our teammate Andy Madden. Andy was on hand just a week after collapsing from cardiac arrest to thank these men.
Four terrific softball games were played and each of the teams put on a show. See the game recaps below.
The Stars were indeed shining!
Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this day a great one. We look forward to our 2nd Annual All Star Showcase next season.
